The Portland Chapter was the seventh to be established at a meeting held at the Mallards, Ocho Rios in September 1995 with 10 members. The first official meeting of the group of prospective members, was held however on January 24, 1991 at the RADA Boardroom, Port Antonio. At this meeting six secretaries were present.

Since its establishment, the Chapter has achieved the awards of Runner-up Most Outstanding Chapter and Highest Percentage Increase in Membership at the annual award ceremony of the Association.

The Chapter has since its establishment, participated in the annual All-Island Administrative Professional and Boss of the Year Competitions and has had the distinction of taking home the All Island Boss of the Year Trophy on two (2) occasions and the Runner-up Administrative Professional of the Year twice.

Current membership stands at 21 Full members, three (3) Honorary Members and one (1) Life Member. Our three honorary members are Dr. Paul E Ivey (All-Island Boss of the Year 2000/2001), Mrs Yvonne Ridguard Harris, (Attorney-at-Law) and Mr. Martin Blackwood, (General Manager – Portland Co-op Credit Union). The first and current Life Member, Charmaine McKenzie, has the distinction of being the first member of the Chapter to serve as President of the National Executive. The Chapter however has had the distinction of having two (2) members serving as National President in successive years.
