The Manchester Chapter

The Manchester Chapter, often referred to as the “Jewel in the Crown” was the fourth chapter to be formed on November 7, 1978. It must be noted that the Chapter has the distinct privilege of serving as host for the establishment of the National Executive in October 1985.

Since 1978, the Chapter has gained several accomplishments to include several All-Island Boss and Administrative Processionals of the Year titles. For three years in a row (2009, 2010, 2011), the Chapter copped the All –Island Boss of the Year title. In 2011, the Chapter won both the All-Island Boss and Administrative Professional of the Year titles. The following year the Chapter again copped the title of All Island Administrative Professional of the Year. Since then, the Chapter has taken home several national titles and trophies to include first and second place winners of the Essay Competitions.

Chapter Activities

The Manchester Chapter has varied activities that are related to charitable workpersonal development and bonding.

The Chapter has been involved in several civic projects and activities that involve visits to hospitals, schools (basic, primary, and secondary), children’s homes, and retirement homesDuring Administrative Professionals’ Week, whenever possible, courtesy calls are made to civic leaders. Some of the projects include, but are not limited to, the adoption of the Dunrobin Basic School, donations to the Friends in Need Organisation (which specialises in identifying and feeding street persons)and visits to D. Frank Early Childhood Institution and the Curphey Home for Ex-Service Men, among others. The Chapter also participates in Read Across Jamaica. On occasion, as the Chapter is able to do so, individuals in need of food and supplies are also assisted. The members also participate in annual Labour Day projects in Manchester.

Outside of civic activities, efforts are made, as much as possible, to have online and in-person professional, educational and personal development presentations, in and outside of regular meetings. For instance, on occasion, members get hands-on training in different skills such as auto mechanics and keeping fit through workouts at the gym. There are also socials planned, on occasion, to build camaraderie in the chapter. As mandated by the Association, the Chapter also participates in church services and other National Executive calendared events.
