St. Catherine Chapter
In 2019, Miss Claudette Headley sent a letter to Convention Coordinator & Life Member Sheila Heaven, about the possibility of forming a chapter in St. Catherine. Said letter was forwarded to the National Executive and various discussions were held regarding this venture. Following Convention 2022, eight (8) applications were received for possible membership in a St. Catherine Group and in August 2023 the Inaugural meeting of the St. Catherine Group was held virtually with those eight prospective members in attendance.
By October 2023 the number of prospective members increased to twelve. Having met the membership criteria for the formation of a chapter; the group commenced on fulfilling the other criteria to include the sponsorship of the Strathmore Gardens Children’s Home in St. Catherine. Monthly meetings were held each First Monday with special guidance provided by Godmother, NE 2nd Vice President Ghandi and other members of the National Executive. Fundraising in the forms of a Cake Sale in March 2024 yielded $70,000.00 as part of the group’s efforts.
During Administrative Professionals Week 2024, the group completed the following:
- Four (4) members participated in Church service at the Church of God of Prophecy, 41 Old Harbour Road, Spanish Town, St. Catherine to include reading of the bible lesson by Member Pansy and the Governor General’s Proclamation read by Member Shereen Bryan
- Handing over to the Home by members Dahvita Scarlett and Claudette Headley on April 25, 2024 of the funds raised from the Cake sale along with articles of clothing, toys, cleaning and educational supplies donated by the members
- Members and invitees participating in a Virtual Lunch and Learn session titled, Work Life Balance – Myth of Fact” via Zoom.
On Sunday, October 27, 2024 a contingent of eight (8) members headed by Interim Leader Dahvita Scarlett journeyed to Runaway Bay, St. Ann to participate in the Annual General Meeting of the Association. During this meeting, the group was installed as the seventh Chapter of the Jamaica Association of Administrative Professionals. The other members of the contingent were Shereen Bryan, Claudette Headley, Elaine Brown Spence, Tara Foster, Joy Davis, Pansy Givans and Romalee Wallace.
